“He should have stayed another year.”
“He can’t shoot, all he can do is finish at the rim.”
“He makes bad decisions with the ball which leads to too many turnovers.”
Ever since Christon declared for the NBA Draft, the above comments have been muttered by college and NBA analysts. Despite some areas Christon might need to improve on, he still is a talented, athletic, and quick guard who ended up getting drafted by OKC. Bleacherreport.com came out with an interesting article that projects where Christon will be at the start of the season with the OKC franchise. BR says, “Christon was a defensive pest who made a number of nice plays and got to the rack, but his poor outside shooting made him somewhat of a liability and easier to defend.” They believe Christon will be starting the season in the NBA D-League to develop his shot and to get a better feel for the game which will lead to less turnovers. It is usually common for 2nd rd picks to start their careers in the NBA-D League, but there are some openings on the OKC roster for a guy like Semaj. What’s your opinion, Xavier Nation?
Personally, I see him as a starter/role player one day. This year, the D-league might be his best fit though, since he is still raw, but is full of great potential. You can’t teach the quickness he has, or his ability to finish at the rim, but you can teach him how to improve his jump shot and limiting turnovers. He has a bright future ahead of him, and I look forward to watching him represent Xavier in the NBA.
